I don't know what its name is, but I've seen it many times over the years.
Correction! Now I know! They are called "Love in a Mist" (or Jewel in a mist). They come in other colors (white, pink, etc.) Their Latin description is as follows:
Family: Ranunculaceae (ra-nun-kew-LAY-see-ay)
Genus: Nigella (ny-JELL-luh)
Species: damascena (dam-ASK-ee-nuh)
