I've been working to find a design that would look reasonably good on a light background. This one is moving in the right direction, maybe. The settings were as follows: gamma=1.52, brightness=4, vibranch=0.95, zoom=0.96. I used a spiral kind of image, rotational, order=20. I also used an orange and blue gradient from Paint Shop Pro. I just mutated the basic design until I saw something that looked good on the pale background.

The trick to getting a cleaner image was zooming into the heart of the design, because the "dust" is much finer quality...not so grainy. The downside is that by zooming in, everything takes a LOT longer. This render took 5.5 hours.
